Terms and Conditions
By entering the Teapot Test competition (the “Promotion”) run by Yorkshire Tea (the “Promoter), you will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions.
1.1. The Promotion is being run and administered by Yorkshire Tea (on behalf of Bettys & Taylors Group Limited, 1 Parliament Street, Harrogate, North Yorkshire HG1 2QU.)
1.2. The Promotion is open to residents of the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) who are aged 18 years or over at the date on which they enter the Promotion, but excluding employees of the Promoter, any immediate family member of an employee of the Promoter, its subcontractors, subsidiaries or anyone professionally connected with the Promotion.
1.3. The Promotion will run from 12th May - 15th August. Entries received outside of the Promotion Period will not be eligible to win the Prize.
1.4. No purchase is required to participate in the Promotion, however you will need an Internet connection and access to a web browser. No refund may be claimed for expenses incurred in participating in the Promotion, including in relation to the use of the Internet.
2. ENTRY TO THE PROMOTION
2.1. To participate in the Promotion, participants must sign up for an account on the Teapot Test page and submit their predictions for that day’s play. You may only participate in the Promotion once during each promotional period, which equates to a maximum of one set of predictions for each day of play.
2.2. Each participant consents to their name and picture appearing on the Promoter's website, any of Yorkshire Tea’s social media channels and in promotional materials in respect of the Promotion.
2.3. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the eligibility of any participant (including their age and place of residence) and to exclude anyone who the Promoter believes to have acted in breach of these terms and conditions from participating in the Promotion.
2.4. The Promoter shall not be responsible for any attempt to participate in the Promotion which is unsuccessful or incomplete for any reason, including as a consequence of communication or network failures.
2.5. The Promoter reserves the right to alter a user's ‘nickname’ should it be deemed unsuitable due to inappropriate language or that it could cause offence, because that’s just not cricket.
3. THE WINNER
3.1. At the end of each Promotion Period (specific dates are stated in section 1.3), one participant will be selected as the winner of that day’s main prize. This winner will be drawn randomly from a list of eligible players. To be eligible for the prize draw, participants need to score 200 points on the day’s play.
3.2. The Winners will be contacted via the email submitted on their account. In the event that the Winner cannot be contacted within 72 hours or chooses not to redeem the Prize a replacement Winner will be selected in accordance with paragraph 3.1 of these terms and conditions.
3.3. At the end of each Promotion Period (specific dates are stated in section 1.3), one participant will be selected as the winner of that Test's main prize. This winner will be drawn randomly from a list of eligible players. To be eligible for the prize draw, participants need to submit their predictions on one of the five days of the test.
4. HOW DO I WIN?
4.1. The aim of the game is to try and predict when the wickets will fall during a day’s play at each England Test game. In order to play the game a participant must first sign up to create their unique account. Once this is complete the participant can then submit their predictions.
4.2. Each user gets 10 stamps for the day. A stamp is to be placed on the exact delivery during that over the user thinks the wicket will fall. The stamp covers one specific ball and also that entire over.
4.3. Points are scored as follows:
- 100 points will be scored for a stamp placed on the exact ball in the correct over
- 25 points will be scored for placing your stamp on the correct over
4.4. A user may gain an extra 100 points for each day's play by sharing the Teapot Test on their personal Twitter and Facebook pages. This can be done once for each day's play.
4.5. A user may change their predictions at any point. The only exception being when the game is live, in this circumstance a user may change their predictions within five overs of the current over in the live game e.g. If the game was currently in the 5th over, a user could only alter predictions from the 11th over onwards.
5. THE PRIZE
5.1. The prize changes for each day’s play. This will be communicated in the user section once predictions have been submitted.
5.2. The main prize changes each full Test. This will be communicated on the front page of this promotion.
6.1. Prizes can be won via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, and may not be substituted or exchanged, however where the Prize is not available for any reason beyond the Promoter's control, the Promoter may replace the Prize with a prize of similar or greater value.
6.2. The Winner must provide the Promoter with their contact details within 72 hours of accepting the prize.
6.3. The Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash and are non-transferable.
7.1. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law the Promoter excludes liability for any losses, damages and claims incurred by any person in connection with the Promotion.
7.2. The Promotion is not in any way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, and you acknowledge and agree that Facebook, Twitter and Instagram shall have no liability to you in connection with the Promotion.
8.1. All decisions made by the Promoter in respect of the Promotion shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
8.2. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions or cancel the Promotion at any time if circumstances beyond its control make this unavoidable.
8.3. All personal data submitted in connection with the Promotion will be processed by the Promoter for the purposes of administering and managing the Promotion and the Prize (where applicable) and verifying the eligibility of each participant. The Promoter will not use any personal data for any other purposes without the consent of the relevant participant. By participating in the Promotion, each participant consents to the use of their personal data in accordance with these terms and conditions.
8.4. This Promotion, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law. Each participant irrevocably agrees that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim that arises out of or in connection with this Promotion.
